The compliance picture

What a gym actually has to stay on top of

Fitness premises are one of the more demanding sites for compliance - dozens of plug-in machines, high foot traffic, sweat and moisture near electrics, and a duty to get everyone out safely if the worst happens. Miss a check and it is your licence, your insurance and your members on the line.

  • Every treadmill, bike and cable machine is a portable appliance that needs PAT testing
  • High-occupancy floors mean emergency lighting and clear escape routes are critical
  • Moisture and heavy daily use put extra strain on your fixed wiring
  • Insurers and landlords routinely ask to see current certificates

Why EFS

One plan, and your gym just stays compliant

You have got classes to run and members to keep. Chasing separate contractors for PAT, fire and fixed-wire testing is how deadlines slip. Put the lot on one EFS plan and it runs quietly in the background.

  • One provider for electrical, fire and security - one number to call
  • Testing booked around your timetable, not the other way round
  • Every certificate filed and ready the moment an inspector or insurer asks

Frequently asked questions

Yes - treadmills, bikes, cable machines and anything else that plugs in are portable appliances, and you have a duty to keep them safe. Heavy daily use and moisture make faults more likely, so regular PAT testing is well worth it, and insurers frequently ask for it.

For most commercial premises a fixed-wire (EICR) inspection is recommended around every five years, though a busy, moisture-heavy gym floor can warrant more frequent checks. We assess your site and track the right interval for you.

In most cases, yes. We schedule around your quietest hours and work through the site in stages so members barely notice. Anything that does need a machine or circuit offline is planned with you in advance.

Absolutely - that is how most of our leisure clients work. PAT, EICR, fire and emergency-lighting servicing all bundled onto one predictable monthly cost, scheduled and reminded automatically.
